On the voices in my head

Oh the voices in my head
They say

You’re not good enough
You’re not enough
Are you sure?

Oh I know you
The judgemental one

Oh the voices in my head
They say

You’re lazy
You’re arrogant
So slow

Oh I know you
Criticism personified

Oh the voice in my head
They say

You don’t work hard
You don’t deserve it

Oh I know you
Distrustful much

Oh the voices in my head
They say

They have it better
And you just can’t measure up

Oh I know you
The green-eyed one

Oh the voices in my head
They say

You don’t belong
You never will

Oh I know you
Meet the undeserving everyone

Oh the voices in my head
They say

Choices
You have none

Oh I know you
Disdainful
Be gone

Now listen
The voices in my head

I know you
But you are not me
I know

You are not even mine
I know

Now I get to choose
The talk I have with myself

And I say to myself
All is well

Oh to the voices in my head
I say

I am safe
I am strong
I am healthy

Now I choose you
The affirmative one

Oh to the voices in my head
I say

I am capable
I am worthy
I am resilient

Now I choose you
Meet self-reliance
[The greatest art]

Oh to the voices in my head
I say

I am grateful
I am blessed
I am finally myself

Now I choose you
My inner voice

And you are me
Awakening into a self-awareness

Of my heart
My mind
My soul

Free from blind spots
A reflection of my values
The ones I wrote

Oh liberation
This must be it

To detach from the voices (in my head)
My own identity

Who am I then
The one who knows

This difference
This truth

That the voices in my head
They are mine to choose
